If anyone believes that the women are lying, they are using the same standards of evidence you are using. It's what they want to believe, just as you want to believe the women are telling the truth.

Because I think it fits his character. Forces women who work for him to wear dresses. Tried to delay a legally granted abortion so the poor immigrant woman would be forced to carry to term. And believes birth control pills are abortion pills. This is absolutely who I believe Trump would nominate. And yeah, I'll believe the women. That's the age-old question to humanity, isn't it? How do I know if someone is telling the truth to me or not? You don't. So believe whatever you want unless it comes to a criminal court, and this did not. Hell, does anyone remember who that guy was in 2012 who say "Some girls, they rape so easy?" Yeah, I think Kavanaugh and the extreme hard right are precisely like that. Misogynistic to their core.

Absent physical evidence (after all, the incident took place decades ago), Kavanaugh simply didn't act like an innocent man. An INNOCENT man would've said, "take all the time you need, investigate this without time limits, the truth will vindicate me". That's how genuinely innocent suspects ACT in real-life criminal cases. A guilty man, meanwhile, blusters, attacks the credibility of the accuser, and tries to make emotional appeals while subtly attempting to avoid investigation.

Kavanaugh acts like a man with something to hide, and given that he's been caught lying to Congress before and even a little bit of research reveals that he's completely unfit for the job he was being interviewed for, yeah, I believe that he's scum, a mean drunk, an alcoholic, probably beats his wife when he's drunk, and is a serial sexual abuser. I can't trust a single word that comes out of his mouth.

Believing the alleged victims is fine, as a personal choice, but you should hold people who disagree with you to the same standard.

As a note, "the pill" can act as what someone would reasonably call an arbotifacient, by preventing implantation by the zygote. So there is solid science there.

An innocent man who believed that the opposition was operating in good faith would probably do that. And if emotional appeals disqualify a side, then the side backing the accusers lost all credibility some time ago.

It's the same kind of ignorance all the hard right has for abortion. It's not so much pro-life as anti-choice. If they legitimately gave a shit about the child, they'd wanna make sure they came out to a happy world, but their economic policies have been shit since Reagan and just lead to more poverty, which doesn't breed happy children. Plus these hardcore Christians just hate the idea of women having sex and enjoying it, and people just having sex period. They are really regressives from another era who belong in the 4th century in terms of how sexually enlightened they are. People are going to have sex, people are going to use birth control, and people are going to have abortions, and no, you can't make a woman give birth to a rapist's baby, and I think that upsets these sick freaks. They get off on the idea of forced birth. It honestly in some ways feels like a kink to them. But fine, whatever. Accept your nominee. As I said, goodbye birth control.
