Kavanaugh sides with liberals on Planned Parenthood.

I forgot my smiley face. Let me fix that.

Note if all the other people on the dollar coin are presidents* then surely those last two must be right? :)

* Not actually but the only other ones I got out of a St. Louis transit vending machine, that is sort of the key to the joke I guess you had to be there.

I am not sure if I kept an Eisenhower, but I kept a Bucky (some say he was the worst president ever) and a Ulysses S. Grant and one or two others (maybe both Adams?).

James "Bucky" Buchanan, the guy before Lincoln...

Supposedly the Captain America sidekick was named after him...

I like the coins because even a small amount of adulterated gold means I have a way to protect myself from dullahans.

Also Cybermen (at least classic Who Cybermen)...
Admiral X wrote: Thu Dec 20, 2018 7:13 am Which explains why the government might be interested in them, but not why normal people would be.
If the mint et al. is wasting money making dollar bills (presumably dollar bills could cost more than a dollar coin to keep in circulation due to anti-counterfeiting methods making them more expensive than a dollar to produce etc.) then they are paying for that waste out of somebody's pocket and its probably the US taxpayer's pocket. So if it makes money for the government it makes sense for the taxpayer to want it and so on.

Note you should really never carry around more than 4 $1 units of currency coins or bills (when there is a $5 unit), arguably if you are your just making more work for yourself (an extreme case perhaps illustrates best imagine paying a $50 tab in $1 bills, but the inconvenience holds for any number greater than or equal to 5, if less obviously). So the inconvenience of carrying 4 coins does not seem that great. Now what is going to happen is you have a long wait between obtaining 5 , 10 etc. coins, and being able to change them into more convenient form.

Also run the argument another way: why not make 25 cent bills and 10 cent and 5 cent and so on. Would that really substantively more convenient for people, if we did?

Another marginal benefits are that it is easier to build a vending machine that takes dollar coins over bills (and none of that waiting for the bill to go in and out getting mis-scanned and so on).

I tend to end up with a lot of dollar bills. It seems kind of stupid to me that there be some kind of expectation that one constantly need to get dollar bills changed into larger bills so that they have no more than four single dollars. That's just weird.

There's also the more important aspect - you're not going to slip dollar coins into a stripper's g-string. ;)

Inflation, the high cost of living, soon the strippers are all going to expect $5 bills whether or not $1s are still around. :)

I'm pretty sure you'll just be expected to throw them more often.
