Changes dropped against Anthony Hobson for killing of fetus.

Post by LittleRaven »

A couple of weeks ago, Anthony Hobson brutally murdered Jennifer Irigoyen, seemingly with the specific intent of terminating her pregnancy.
“He’s got a knife! He’s going to kill the baby!” Irigoyen had shouted, a witness previously told The Post.

The expectant mother was then knifed multiple times in the torso, neck and abdomen, authorities said.
As is standard in many of these cases, he was charged with 2 counts of murder (well, technically, one count of murder and one count of 'felony abortion') - one for the mother, one for the child.

But in light of the new abortion law in New York, which moves abortion to public health codes, the DA has decided he can no longer prosecute felony abortion, and has dropped the charge.

Little old ladies everywhere are scandalized.

Good. We shouldn't treat a still-growing baby as a living, breathing, sentient being.

That was a bit... unexpected from you.

Dare I ask why you relish in the legal precedent set forth here rather in lieu of a man who brutally murdered his baby's mother?

I mean I do have an idea when thinking about it.

He can still be charged for murder, aye? Get him on that. But a fetus should not be treated as a living being. It is not.

A 5 month preemie can survive with medical treatment. Shit like this is so depressing.

I haven't gotten down to the middle of it, but if someone just aborted another person's baby, whether it was in the legal abortion time window or not... I mean really?

I do have qualms against a late-stage abortion, admittedly. But that's out of personal feeling, that I've heard the baby can feel pain. But I maintain my position that THAT belongs with the mother and father to discuss - not out-of-touch politicians or moral crusaders. Let family planning stay where it belongs - with the prospective families.

I thought maybe you'd appeal to the mother's right instead of having religious interests say that she can't do what she needs to do.

There is no "legal abortion" window in New York. If the baby isn't born yet, it's legal to abort it. Although if the baby is far enough along, you do have to have a health care provider (NOT a doctor) willing to say it's in the best interests of the mother.
