That "understanding" is outdated and based on fearmongering conspiracy theories and bigoted nonsense.
In reality, there are distinct neurological differences between trans people and cis people of the same biological sex, and fundamentally, I think that any one person is better informed about their own fucking gender than some idiot on the street raving about bathrooms.

Other than the above in Worffan's post, which I agree with, the only alternative explanation for gender dysphoria put forth by someone with an actual medical degree is that it is just a form of homosexuality.Darth Wedgius wrote: ↑Tue Feb 12, 2019 6:38 pm Why do you think someone is the best expert on their own gender?
...Which is ANOTHER self-report state, regardless of the validity of their science (it's been the focus of much debunking, fyi). So there is really no "objective" test without subject input from any direction, or are you thinking of something else that medical science has just chosen to ignore...because?

That goes as far as to put into question conventional discourse between such transgendered peoples and commonfolk who center the debate around their philosophical positions on bathroom signs. But it still leaves quite a bit of room, even as far as G-Man and CmdrKing's respective positions.Worffan101 wrote: ↑Tue Feb 12, 2019 8:07 pmBecause I trust people to know what they are?Darth Wedgius wrote: ↑Tue Feb 12, 2019 6:38 pmWhy do you think someone is the best expert on their own gender?Worffan101 wrote: ↑Tue Feb 12, 2019 3:46 am

G-Man in the initial quotes (that I recall) didn't really verge into legitimacy of transgender, but of sexual dimorphism and the subsequent social reception to it through awareness and conventionally objective understandings. A little assertive on the right-wing positioning sure, but valid in his claim that it's not so bigoted in the malicious sense.

Yep, contrary to TIRFs. I just don't see G-Man's position as one of any kind of particular interest group, so the correlation to TERFs starts to thin just a bit. But also his rant about discord had more to do with objective interpretation between groups and not sociological consideration.Draco Dracul wrote: ↑Tue Feb 12, 2019 12:57 pmIt means Trans Exclusive Radical Feminist.BridgeConsoleMasher wrote: ↑Tue Feb 12, 2019 11:11 am Yeah I'm not quite following the TERF reference.

Cis-gendered women must rank lower on the oppression pyramid than trans-women.

Which sort of proves my point.
How much play has this gotten, and how many pro-trans feminists are looking for ways to prevent this sort of abuse of the system in the future? Or are they willing to sacrifice rape victims for the good of the cause? https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/artic ... mates.html

Rape occurs in environment with high rate of rape isn't exactly shocking or somehow different because the perpetrator is transsexual.G-Man wrote: ↑Wed Feb 13, 2019 2:08 pmWhich sort of proves my point.

Ah yes, I'm sure it's a sacrifice the intersectionalists are willing to make.
