Please explain what you mean by "pull a Colin Kaepernick."
Yeah, there doesn't really seem to be any meaningful connection between the two at all.
Kaep went up against some tough guys on the field i assume. But they are both acting like weak bitches off the field of art and sports.
Ali was on Firing Line. Kaep hid behind Progressive media dominance.
Ha well that wasn't exactly the takeaway I was going for.
While Kaepernick's not really done anything wrong, he's become a national spectacle, and the message Smollett sparked up about racism is only just very loosely reminiscent. It's that disconnect that is absurd thus funny as a joke, in that Smollett is kinda turning out to be a fraud in his antics.
Chicago police initially investigated the incident as a possible hate crime but later said Smollett staged the attack, recruiting two brothers to carry it out, because he was unhappy with his pay on the Fox show.
An attorney for Smollett, Mark Geragos, called the indictment “prosecutorial overkill.” He said Smollett “adamantly maintains his innocence.”
And I'd maintain, that it's still a hate crime committed by Smollett and I consider the current indictments as prosecutorial underkill. That cunt can rot in the mustiest windowless cellar room that the american prison systen can offer, for all I care. Shit like what he did is among the worst crimes you can commit, as it harms an entire society and he did it for purely selfish reasons and personal gain on top of it.

Considering the crap the CPD caught fairly early on, they probably aren't real happy with Smollett and are probably going to throw the book at him. And when they're done with him, he still has Federal charges to face thanks to that letter he had mailed to himself.
I really have to wonder - has the "social justice" crowd been so brainwashed by their own rhetoric that they genuinely believed the police would just ignore this "attack" and not investigate it at all?

I don't think that the quote unquote social justice crowd has much any regard for authority outside for judicial parameters and police acting out of line.

That's a joke used to lamp shade(?) the apparent bluntness or overt frankness of someone's statement.
The saddest part is, this should be a moment of celebration for those that claim to oppose racism and bigotry. There is a little less racism in the world than we though there was. But that's not the case. People are disappointed that a black man wasn't beaten in the streets of Chicago. Because it's not about reducing or stopping bigotry, it's about maintaining the narrative.
