Same as me then.

A recommendation from Diamanda Hagan during one of her Doctor Who videos. Well, that's where I had first HEARD of him. The first of his videos I SAW was the System Shock 2 review.

He did a guest spot on one of Linkara's anniversary reviews (I could not tell you which one at this point. 100 perhaps? I know it was about how cameras steal your soul but that's about it now) and so whatever he had up that day I took a gander and, welp, here we are.

I think it was the 200th episode, the one with One More Day.

Naw, it was his review of 'Star Trek Voyager' issue #1, with SF interjecting with Janeway jokes.

Nah, that was definitely later, Chuck's been appearing here and there in Linkara's stuff for years.
*skims 200* Yup, there he is. Much shorter cameo than I remembered! Explains why I forgot the rest of it though.

Definitely on Youtube, if I had to guess it was late 2009/early 2010, back when Star Trek was the only thing he reviewed. Dunno how I stumbled across his first review though, but I'm very glad I did.

I knew of Chuck on alt.startrek.vs.starwars back in the day and then Michael Wong's stardestroyer.net web forum when Mike opened them (and which generally became the home of the ASVSers as UseNet and the NGs went into decline). I remember when the initial videos were being posted over on SDN and we'd do our discussion threads on reviews, the one I remember the most was the Tuvix review.
That said, I do regret that I never personally interacted with Chuck as much as the others back in the day. I've talked to him more in the last year than I did during those early SDN years.

In my case, it was more that I registered early on the first version of the web forum (before the Great Russian Attack of 2016) and TexasRed knew of my history as a super mod and mod over on SDN and Spacebattles.com.clearspira wrote: ↑Sun Mar 17, 2019 3:25 pmI always wondered how someone becomes a high level mod on this forum.
