Re: Poparena - my falling out
Another thing I want to note is that I want to communicate to you all what his channel meant to me. When I was friends with AnimationRewind and on his good side, I asked him to provide free publicity on his channel, which had tens of thousands and at the time over 100,000 subs, and if they wouldn't mind subscribing, while poparena hasn't even broken past 10,000 yet. And while that didn't pan out, I at least tried. I was rooting for it to do so, hoping it would cross the 10,000 subscribers threshold, and... I do feel as if he just... never appreciated me for the kind of fan I was. I'd sometimes donate more than I should past what was required for a commission. That's passion. That's wanting to see something grow. And for him to kick me out over a stupid misunderstanding... again, I can't see Chuck doing that.

Re: Poparena - my falling out
I run this forum. I've been a fan of chuck and watching his videos since at least 2009. I've donated a couple of times and at one point I was even donating monthly on Patreon. Hell I've even spoken to Chuck once over the phone back when I was trying to find reliable mods. I spend most of my days working and only really check in on the forum every several days because life is busy. I'm currently trying to put together the money for a book review donation which is taking far longer than I ever imagined it would. In all of this I don't bug him, I don't get into his business, I don't antagonize him, I don't make passing remarks that are "inconsequential" or that might be taken as a "misunderstanding" nor do I expect any kind of prefered treatment in return from him for the things I do for him. I leave him alone, and I will continue to keep doing exactly that. I doubt Chuck ever thinks about me and frankly I'm perfectly happy with that. I've got enough shit on my plate and I know for a fact that he's got more than enough on his, so he doesn't need my opinions, my wants, my thoughts, or me,me,me, getting in his way. If you want to be a good person then be good person, everything else is irrelevant.

Re: Poparena - my falling out
Poparena is tweeting how he wishes he could do more than have a vote and a protest, and I can't help but sneer. "You threw me out of your community because you thought I was impugning on your precious integrity, and proved you have none by doing that!" Why do I revisit this? I had another nightmare, in which poparena not only kicked me out of his community, yet again, but then Chuck did the same thing. And why do I keep repeating that line? THAT I WAS NOT ACCUSING HIM OF NOT VOTING?! Clearspira said it best. He might be seeing this. And if he does, I hope he sees this and it finally sinks into his thick skull. I WAS NOT ACCUSING HIM OF NOT VOTING. All he did was hurt a longtime fan who'd contributed $1800 dollars to his show. Thanks for nothing...

Him wishing he could do more than vote and protest has nothing to do with his actions on the forum, or on you. If you don't reign this in your going to end up with a wall full of photographs of pop arena that all have the eyes scratched out.

Dude, he was never your friend, he's an entertainer, and you're his patron who started giving him financial tips. This is equivalent to someone enjoying a dancer at a club, giving them tips, even referring other patrons to enjoy this dancer, and being mad that this person is still doing their own thing and not treating you as a personal friend.
If you don't like that example, replace dancer with street musician, and instead of putting one dollar bills into his G-string, you're putting some change into his guitar case. Getting upset that he's performing the songs he wants to perform his way is his own business, and he will play whatever he wants to play.
That is the only form of relationship you have with this person. They are not beholden to you.

And I will still insist that he overreacted. That I still could have supported the channel even if he wanted me to leave him alone. Isn't that sad? That all I wanted was to support his channel, even after what he did? Also, am I denying he never saw me as a friend? But I also think he was unfair, period.

Using the Street performer example, imagine if somebody who tipped the street guitarist said, "Hey, play 'Don't fear the Reaper'," over and over again. Then got mad about being ignored. Then, when the guy keeps on bugging the guitarist, the guitarist takes the change out of his case, and says go away. Because it's almost like heckling, and that's never fun for a performer to deal with.Yukaphile wrote: ↑Sat May 25, 2019 2:17 pm And I will still insist that he overreacted. Then, later on, because the mood strikes him, the guitarist actually does play 'Don't fear the Reaper'. Is the guitarist being a hypocrite? Or are they actually wanting to do it now that they aren't being pestered by a guy who thinks of him as their own personal dancing monkey?

Re: Poparena - my falling out
I had another dream... about how I was talking to him on Twitter, and he blocked me again, and I got more accounts to keep it going. I dunno, I think this is because I feel guilty for being angry at him, like maybe deep down, I deserve it. But intellectually I feel what he did was a mistake. We align politically, and I wasn't accusing him of not voting like he thought. I will take that to the grave. But I guess, I still feel guilty. And deep down I'm still hurt by being kicked out of his community.
