I would like to add that pro-Scottish independence political cartoons do not, to my knowledge, actually exist, so don't know what Chuck is on about there.

Wow, I think being junked might have (hard as it is to say) might have done this serial a bit of good. The side by side comparison really shows how goofy the original looks and how pants to be darkened the animation is, the Macra looking like an actual terror. I'd love to see something like the TOS episode The Arena done in a similar fashion, that was an episode that many myself included think was hampered by some not super great special effects.
Also the animated 2nd Doctor is strangely adorable, I don't know why.

Looks like they did a very good job on this. The only thing that bothers me is the constant over-exaggerated motion. Everything moves in a wide arc no matter how otherwise-subtle the movement. Bounce Bounce Bounce. It's the Flash Animation equivalent of the Robot Chicken style (and very prevalent in cheaply-made Flash shows for kids).
The improvements in set and effects though were quite good, and it seems they improved the editing a bit too. Not a bad story, either!

Oh, THAT kind of cartoon. I thought he meant an animation. Doh.Robovski wrote: ↑Thu May 23, 2019 12:45 am*ahem*Jonathan101 wrote: ↑Wed May 22, 2019 6:02 pm https://www.sfdebris.com/videos/doctorwho/s04e07.php

The animation really reminds me of Archer. I kind of wish they improved the faces a bit though. For instance, Ben's face doesn't really match his actor, and loses a bit of visual appeal because of it.

I'm hoping that the next Reconstruction project is Evil Of The Daleks.
Re: Doctor Who: The Macra Terror
To me the story is a very good allegory of the Soviet Union and former Soviet block countries, down to the propaganda squads, which was done in schools, especially the communist youth organizations.
Not sure how many other Doctor Who stories from that time were similar, I assume, given the time period, to be quite many.

I have to say, the "10/10" changed to "11/10" joke is one of the funniest things I have ever seen.

The second Doctor seems like a lot of fun.
