Since the last two videos Chuck uploading were Youtube videos, I hope he reuploads the 3 part Superman premier on Youtube because it seems dailymotion which the other two videos are hosted by seems to be disconnected here in Egypt for some reason especially since part 1 is uploaded on Youtube. And as you can tell by my avatar, Superman related videos are one of my big interests.
Inexplicably, the other two parts cannot be put on YT. I spent hours trying to edit part 2 into a format that would work, and YT just kept spitting it out with "Blocked."
Good ol' Youtube and its BS copyright system
Sorry to hear that, Youtube seems to giving content creators a hard time recently. I hope the dailymotion issue gets fixed soon, otherwise a new alternative needs to found especially a lot of videos seem to be connected through dailymotion including many of the DS9 reviews, your Vimeo videos are still working you could upload it there or is there an issue with Vimeo too?
Vimeo is throwing me out, I draw too much traffic. It's either leave of pay them enough to purchase a slightly used Jeep Wrangler on an annual basis.
Is it a regional issue you're having? Have you tried using a proxy?
I found a way around this, I was able to open the french version of dailymotion (I tried VPN but I got convinced how to set it up I'm not very computer savvy when it comes to certain programs) and right clicked the video and picked page source so I could play a full screen version of the video. Now being a Superman fan I can give my two cents regarding the review.
- I think this is the best premier within the DCU, mostly because it's an origin story and done well followed by Batma Beyond's premier and Static Shock's as the openers of a new series while Justice League's was unfortunately the weakest (luckily the entire show would be amazing)
- "It has after been some time since a Superman movie came out and it wasn't good in the first place", yeah Superman 4 The Quest for Peace wasn't good, still I gladly watch that over Superman Returns.
- I agree, the three part structure was a good choice to tell the origin story.
- It wasn't just that this was Superman in the beginning of his hero career but Bruce Timm and co. decided to depower the character because they found the powers to be more a crutch although that would lead to the character's pathetic showing in the first season of Justice League which the crew themselves admit was a huge screw up on their part and would later get a better handling of the character for the rest of the series.
- While this iteration is more inspired by the Post Crisis Superman comics of the time that was setup by John Byrne especially Clark Kent being more assertive and less mild mannered, the Kents still being alive into Clark's adulthood and of course business tycoon Lex Luthor, the show would later show more Pre-Crisis elements than the comics were willing to allow SPOILER WARNING!!
Phantom Zone criminals from Krypton and later on Supergirl would be from Argo (though unlike the Pre-Crisis counterpart Argo wasn't a colony of other Kryptonians but separate sister planet to Krypton) and not a sentient gooey shapeshifter from an alternate universe.
