We have a wonderful thread about tea now. I should say that I also enjoy certain baked goods.

Do you have a style of pastry, cake, or other such thing that you enjoy with light meals and snacks? Have you done any baking yourself?

Looked at the wikipedia article on crumpets. I don't think I've ever had one.

I do however make rolls, biscuits, and cinnamon rolls.

A place on the north shore makes this delicious butter pecan scones. The only banking I do is boxed muffin mix.

I take it you don't like black pudding on your full English cooked breakfasts then? Or Yorkshire puds with your cooked dinners? Or battered fish with chips at teatime?

I'm more concerned about the crime against men and gods that is Stargazey Pie. People in america complain about "white people cooking", but unseasoned chicken has NOTHING on that abomination.

Had to google it as despite having lived in the U.K. my entire life I've never heard of it; judging British cuisine on that would be like judging American food on some obscure Florida dish that the rest of the country doesn't eat. If you're going to criticise our grub, at least do it over stuff we all eat

It's from Cornwall and there's a small (but very real) Cornish independence movement so that can be safely discounted from the rest of the UK. Especially my delicious corner of the country (you haven't lived until you've tried a haslet sandwich )

I'd argue the champion of tea accompaniment is the biscuit, but scones with jam are tasty.


Also, it's pronounced to rhyme with 'con' not 'cone'. At least it is in this neck of the woods.
