What is a good review for a newcomer to watch?

In all honesty, I'd just say start with TNG and keep going.

The TOS movies are probably a decent starting point though a bit of a time investment
Wrath of Kahn is Chuck at his most literate and analytical, while the rest are a pretty decent mix of "this is so bad and I'm tearing into it" and "this is okay and I'm giving a balanced review with some comedy."
Most of the early Voyager stuff is probably good too since thats before a lot of the long time jokes had really settled in.
The Modoka set for if they're any kind of anime fan.

Sadly, lots of video unavailable. 1, intro to 4 and 5, and 6 are all that's left. :<RobbyB1982 wrote: ↑Thu Sep 10, 2020 2:46 am The TOS movies are probably a decent starting point though a bit of a time investment

This will depend on how much time you have. Short time the Star Trek Wrath of Khan review is fantastic. As an really good analysis of the movie and its themes. It's Chuck at his serious best. The absolute best here is his reviews of the various Star Trek series. Particularly Voyager and Deep Space 9. But all of them are good. If you have some time to invest either his Rise and Fall of the Comics Empire series, which should be award winning. Or if you like the funny, his story walkthroughs for Star Wars the Old Republic. Pick a character and follow it through. But there is no bad stuff here.

I think you should recommend Wrath of Khan. Chuck dissects the movie on action, setting, lore, trivia, and the comparisons to the Motion Picture. He shows all the quotes in the movie and gives weight to his every argument. There is no character there he specifically despises to drive him to distraction. While his series on the making of Star Wars or the History of Comics were great they are multi-part vehicles that might overwhelm a newcomer not ready for it. Khan is middle of the road in length but has all of Chuck's depth.

But it's video unavailable. Recommending WoK is like recommending Forbidden Stars to a new gamer. As much enjoyment they'll get out of it, it's no help.

o.O Please insert multiple bannable swears from me here. O.o
That is just not right. But I thank you for letting me know. That is kinda sad.

Just give him some 8/10s and some 2-3/10s. Watch a couple and pick ones you think your friend will have fun with.
If someone likes watching TNG as a pass time then this review format shouldn't be that bad lol. It's really digestible commentary.

..What mirror universe?

A lot depends on what you're interested in and familiar with. Completely unfamiliar material (generally the anime stuff) leaves me struggling a bit due to not having a clue what's going on in the story, although I usually watch them anyway for entertainment value. So to start with I'd find a review on a series you're reasonably familiar with but isn't so close to the heart that any criticism will annoy.
