Friend, it would be so dope AF if they used Baby Yoda Species as a gateway to bring back Yoda. Or if it was a relative. The possibilities around this character are endless! I mean, they brought Maul back from an N Canon comic, so why not bring back Yoda as well? I mean, because he showed up in TLJ as a ghost? That was not the first retcon we've had in the Disney era and it won't be the last. Or imagine if this is a clone? I think it's not just cute worship we have going on. It's a chance to explore the most well-known species of the entire mythos that's tied into the most well-loved sage of the lore. There is at least some degree of passion here, which is why I think it took off so well.CharlesPhipps wrote: ↑Sun May 17, 2020 8:27 pmFirefly is basically a good example of Star Wars world-building effectively for similar reasons. If it had just been "The Smuggler show" it could have been slotted into the actual Star Wars EU with very few changes.Draco Dracul wrote: ↑Fri May 15, 2020 6:08 pm It also takes Star Wars back to it's roots of semi-adapting Samurai films and westerns, with the primary one here being Lone Wolf and Cub.
Anyway, while Baby Yoda was the breakout character, Pedro Pascal also gives a good enough performance as a hardluck hero to work for the show to be around. It's kind of Police Academy, Steve Guttenberg is no one's favorite character in those movies, but the series good entries revolve around him because he provides the grounding for all the lunacy.

Re: The Mandalorian
Why not stop trying to so desperately recreating, calling back and summoning the past and instead do something fucking new? Fuck Yoda reincarnating! Even thinking about that outside of some silly fanfic somewhere on the interwebs, should be punishable by expulsion from the fandom or, in the case of people who are paid to make the real deal, getting fucking fired.

Well, it may be too zany for some people, and I could totally understand that. However, I want more of the wild and weird and, you know. You're never gonna have true art unless you're willing to experiment and take chances. This is the same universe that brought DE back over into canon, so that you're able to transfer your essence into a clone body, and the new EU does confirm it. It's not all that dissimilar from what the Asgard do on SG to maintain their society. TBH, if this does happen, my only hope would be, I want it to take place after TROS. I know that era is fan-controversial, but it happened. We can't pretend it didn't exist. And given the longevity of Baby Yoda Species, it's very possible that it will happen. While I wouldn't say I trust Mr. Favreau and Mr. Filoni like so many fans do, I am cautiously optimistic.Madner Kami wrote: ↑Sun May 17, 2020 11:35 pm Why not stop trying to so desperately recreating, calling back and summoning the past and instead do something fucking new? Re: The Mandalorian
So guess I will be the one to raise this thread from the dead.
But yeah holy shit was that season premier freaking awesome!
The scale of it just felt all the bigger as it should. And I love the development with the Tusken Raiders the likes I have not seen since Knights of the Old Republic. And certainly eager to see what they do with that armor and *REDACTED* at the end.

Re: The Mandalorian
Well, season 2 Episode 1.....and sadly it's a filler episode. Mando has a quest...so he then take a huge detour to not do the quest. It's bad storytelling.
Not that they are off to a great start with the Super Dumb Idea that NOONE in the whole galaxy knows what a Jedi even is....except they SHOULD. Mando is 40 something, and the Jedi were around IN his life time. So the whole quest for the "unknown jedi" is dumb.

Lord I can't wait for Chuck to talk about Mandolorian. Between Clone Wars relevance and Battlestar Galactica reference it is gonna be a treat.

I don't watch the show but apparently Anita Sarkeesian is pissed that a woman Mandalorian in the latest episode has armour that is form fitting over her boobs. What a truly ridiculous woman. She helps the feminist cause as much as someone who spits in church helps atheists.

Well I have heard the complaint before for another work (might have been her), and that it's not practical breast armorment. Like it's worse or something when the metal gets impinged in that area.clearspira wrote: ↑Sun Nov 15, 2020 9:52 pm I don't watch the show but apparently Anita Sarkeesian is pissed that a woman Mandalorian in the latest episode has armour that is form fitting over her boobs. I'm not certain what the correct type of armor fitting would be, myself.
..What mirror universe?
