I won't spoil but in regards to Romana if Unity is accurate they gave her a good send-off that fit her character.

That good to hear, wish we got more of the timelords outside of the doctor.

Even if they did a tv one then they would have to get Lalla Ward to come back if anything for the switch and considering shes in her 70s she might not be able to do as much depending on what they have her do and if they did it without her that might tick off the fanbase considering how popular her ver of Romana is.
I have to disagree with you about getting Lalla Ward back. Eight regenerated into Nine off-screen and when Six regenerated into Seven they had a body double just put on Colin Baker's clothes.

And lets be honest here, the fanbase is already ticked off. Bringing Romana back is pretty much just the icing upon a rotten cake.
We used to argue whether Star Trek or Star Wars was better. Now we argue which one is worse.

They knew that the sex change would split the fanbase in two and did it anyway so don't give me that.
To be fair, her debut episode had a rating of 10.96 million viewers, which is higher than any of Capaldi's episodes, so it didn't really divide the fandom that much at that point plus some interest outside the fandom, it was after the hype wore off and people noticed the writing not being as consistent as previous seasons is when the show started losing viewers.

The theory whether Time Lords can change genders has been part of the fandom for years, the closest the Classic series got was Tom Baker episode The Hand of Fear, where the story's antagonist Eldrad who is part of an alien race called the Kastrians actually regenerated into a female body and even stated that his species' regeneration process was the same as the one used by the Time Lords.

Also the Classic series producers have thought of changing the Doctor's gender, in fact actresses who could have been considered for the role include Frances de la Tour, Joanna Lumley and Dawn French.

Since the show's revival it had previously referenced (as in the Matt Smith episode "The Doctor's Wife" when the 11th Doctor referenced his old friend who went by the title The Corsair, she/he was even referenced in Gareth Robert's 2012 novelization of then unfinished Douglas Adams scripted 4th Doctor story Shada) and even showed male time lords regenerating into females one of them being the Master who became Missy and that incarnation was well received by the fans and non-TV Doctor Who media had referenced that concept even before the 2005 revival including Big Finish (the 2015 BF episode The Black Hole preceded the show's first on-screen male to female Time lord regeneration). So the Doctor becoming a woman really shouldn't have been a surprise at that point.

Funny enough, Classic Who has an example of a Time Lord changing ethnicities, that occurred in Jon Pertwee's final story The Planet of The Spiders, which apart from being Pertwee's regeneration story also featured a character called The Hermit, a Bhuddist monk revealed to be Timelord named K'anpo Rimpoche, a Gallifreyan spiritual priest (who still practiced spiritual faiths despite Timelord society becoming more scientific and rationalistic) and one of the Doctor's former mentors (possibly the one the Doctor respected more), he regenerated from a Caucasian to Asian or his new body was supposed to be Asian as the actor who played the regenerated body was a white actor in yellow face but officially according to that episode, Timelords can change ethnicities and the non-TV media including Big Finish actually used that concept with one of Rassilon's incarnations being black during the Eight Doctor's BF adventures with Charley.

Didn't what they did with the Colin/Sylvester change anger the fanbase as well?

Anyway, to get back on the original topic has it been confirmed yet that Jodie is leaving, or is it still a rumor?

I haven't heard anything to confirmed it. Personally I would love if she stay for a four series just as a middle finger to the incel who insulted her before she even began.
