But what evidence for that was there in VOY? Unless we really are going to reinterpret the mother daughter relationship she had with Janeway.CharlesPhipps wrote: ↑Tue Jan 12, 2021 1:17 amYou seem to be ignorant of human sexuality. Maybe she kept her heterosexuality inside her catsuit and it fell out along with the padding when she took it off?
Seven is what's called a BI-sexual.

The thing is there doesn't need to be evidence. She just didn't feel any sexual attraction to the women around here on Voyager.clearspira wrote: ↑Sun Jan 03, 2021 3:01 pm But what evidence for that was there in VOY? I don't think sexuality really works that way in portrayals unless it's a specific plot point.clearspira wrote: ↑Tue Jan 12, 2021 7:01 amBut what evidence for that was there in VOY? If anything shows just try to have a style that people agree with aligns with typical homonormative customs as commonly recognized.

It doesn't help that lets be honest the people in voyager were kinda a holes to her, weather using her as a scapegoat or acting like all her hard work doesn't matter when the captain needed a reason to betray her.CharlesPhipps wrote: ↑Tue Jan 12, 2021 8:12 amThe thing is there doesn't need to be evidence. The Queen in the Voyager finale switched actresses and behaved differently, and I enjoy what that implied - the Borg aren't lead by the Queen, instead the Queen is a sort of centralized decision making process, but can be rejected by the collective as overly flawed. I like to think that after Endgame they reshuffled some stuff and collectively decided "guys, the Alpha Quadrant blows chunks. Lets go conquer the other quadrants and shit."
Seven's post-Voyager arc makes a lot of sense. In truth, she always struggled with the entire idea of orders, and frequently did her own thing even on Voyager. So she lone wolfs it. Working with a crew implies a level of give and take that didn't fit her.
Also, I leave for three months to dodge election bullshit, come back, Clearspira is pitching a fit about a woman in a show and overly hung up on her sexuality. I'd say never change, but no, please, fucking change. Please.

I mean her being a lesbian was as establish as her relationship with Chakotay. Plus lets be honest the crew of voyager were horrible to her at times, some using her as a convinent scapegoat, some keeping her apart for a decision she never made, some just paranoid or unreasonable. That would make sense.

Indeed, this is how I also interpret how the Borg operate as well.GreyICE wrote: ↑Mon Jan 25, 2021 8:04 pm The Queen in the Voyager finale switched actresses and behaved differently, and I enjoy what that implied - the Borg aren't lead by the Queen, instead the Queen is a sort of centralized decision making process, but can be rejected by the collective as overly flawed. Absolutely, and I like that they didn't go the easy route of putting her in a Starfleet uniform as well, as you said Seven often made decisions that she felt was right but often outside of Starfleet protocol, and I love that they build upon this aspect of her character in Star Trek Picard, and I love the Fenris Rangers as well, it's nice to see there are organisations outside of Starfleet that do good in the galaxy.
I'm really enjoyed Seven in season one, with the best moment being her talking with Picard about their trauma with the Borg before beaming away, and I'm really looking forward to seeing more of Seven in season two.

Re: What I Like Most About Picard and Discovery S3
I took it to mean either that they just brought the original actress back for the Grand Finale, or even that there were multiple Borg Queens (though, that's sort of implied even if First Contact I suppose). I thought they were pretty explicit that the Queen wasn't their leader in the first movie though (or at the very least, she didn't see herself in such meager terms), and I never thought that the end of Voyager meant the destruction of the Borg (never mind that there were Star Trek EU novels that didn't either).
Ultimately the notion that they are truly a "collective" and that there is no singular will (or set of wills) was fundamentally flawed from the outset- the Borg are slaves, forced to serve against their will, and besides that isn't actually how people work unless their individual identities are similar from the outset already. I don't think that the Borg can "reject" a Queen or that the regular Voyager Queen was somehow deemed a failure (not like the Alice Krige Queen has a great track record herself anyway).

I think the borg queen was a bad idea in the first place.
Re: What I Like Most About Picard and Discovery S3
Given how little personality Borg exhibit, you could interpret it as the Collective only acts on desires that are shared by all (or at least most) of the Borg. And since the individuals who make up the Collective can have varied personalities and opposing interests, they end up being driven by only the most universal of basic instincts: the will to survive, consume, and reproduce.Jonathan101 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 26, 2021 10:33 pm Ultimately the notion that they are truly a "collective" and that there is no singular will (or set of wills) was fundamentally flawed from the outset- the Borg are slaves, forced to serve against their will, and besides that isn't actually how people work unless their individual identities are similar from the outset already.
