Those are not mutually exclusive.

Same to you, sir.

Anyway, as I said, I hope someone in the US has plans to bring this over. It looks fun.

I quite like the idea of the brexit horde of cunts being incinerated by alien lasers
The past tempts us, the present confuses us, the future frightens us. And our lives slip away moment by moment lost in that vast, terrible in-between.

Hey, you want to take off the jackboots there? If you are representational of the pro-EU side, then you aren't presenting a very good example.

Eh... Trying to use a period piece as a metaphor for a modern issue rarely DOESN'T come off as... 'ham-fisted'. The one time I know of where that worked was 'The Cruible', using the Salem Witch Trials as a parallel to the Red Scare.

There isn't a strong enough throughline to connect an Edwardian Era Martian Invasion to Brexit. Not without taking a chainsaw to the novel.

I hope they do the heat rays right. That was one thing the book did correctly and 99% of sci-fi (including all the adaptations) does wrong; directed energy weapons should not have a visible "light beam".

It's a joint production between the BBC and HBO, so it should be showing in both the UK and North America at around the same time.

Oh really? Nice. I wonder if this deal was struck when HBO scooped up New Who.
