Indeed, until there is an official announcement I just ignore any rumor that comes from someone who makes a guy on the street who wears a tin-foil had unironically look like a credible source of information and wisdom.Makeshift Python wrote: ↑Wed Jul 22, 2020 7:14 pm This is about as likely as the plethora amount of times Alex Kurtzman got fired.
The Star Wars Sequels Erased?

Re: The Star Wars Sequels Erased?
Um, hello? Hi, Bridge.
And yes, I agree with Makeshift Python. It is so frustrating to see people buying into this. Mecha82 had said in the past, over and over. Let it go, it's done with. Move on. And I agree. I just wanna see what the High Republic does new, what it brings to the DC, the highs, and the inevitable lows since they have not learned anything, the latter of which is even more proof they're not just going to rip out the ST and drag it into SWL where it has no place and wasn't written in mind for. It would go against the timeline for the other merchandise, like the new HR books, and as I've said, the ST are part of the timeline in them. Why would they want to deliberately confuse casuals? That's been the argument against more SWL for some time now. Now it works in our favor.
I feel there's a degree of sexism here most casuals and menacers would like to pretend isn't real, and while LF can get overblown in calling this out, it's there nevertheless, that Ms. Kennedy is treated as a tyrant for putting down this idea, if true. She is reported to "hate it" and is doing all she can to stop it. That's how Overlord reported it, and... yeah, I hate it too. She is right to crush this idea under heel. It really strikes me as if Overlord is not a hardcore long-term fan here, or he would KNOW that there is a timeline that shows at what point in the universe this story is taking place. SWL is not just a dumping ground for the failures you're ashamed or stuff you deem non-canon. He is stirring up false hope.

The thing I hate about people like Doomcock is how fucking disingenuous they are. There was an article talking about a very specific subset of fandom, particularly those who actually bullied Kelly Marie Tran online with a lot of racial and sexist language. Not just anyone who was critical of the content delivered by LFL, ONLY the actual bullies. Doomcock and his cohorts would then take that article and claim the the media was branding them as sexists in an effort to silence them from being critical of the franchise and their followers would eat it all up.
Bunch of wankers.

Re: The Star Wars Sequels Erased?
it would be nice if they made it non cannon but lets face it its not happening and there is a simple reason, disney OWNS it. The reason they don't just use the eu anymore is that they don't own it. disney wants control over every element of star wars and with who was running it previously im not surprised, the only reason things are being brought back in like thrawn ect. is that they are making new deal with those creators and are getting new contracts, ones that i be let disney take control of whatever they want. Plus they keep putting out stuff like the kylo ren mini series in marvel comics, we all have to deal with the fact that they made 3 medium to poor star wars movies and move on. plus the old eu still exists just read the thrawn trilogy or the x wing novels those are really good.
Re: The Star Wars Sequels Erased?
I still think they should just ignore it. I don't mean remake the Sequel Trilogy. Just don't reference it for future works. Plenty of time in between the OT and the ST. Or don't go that path go way before the 9 movies and do something original like Knights of the Old Republic.
Or do a Vader movie choking out his coworkers and killing people who displease him. And dealing with Rebel Scum. It's not that hard. Anyone can be under that black helmet to play him, and if need be find someone who can do a passable James Earl Jones when he was younger.
No need to actively destroy the Sequels.

I got nothing to say here.
Re: The Star Wars Sequels Erased?
I dunno, I'm pretty sure James Earl Jones could still do the voice work.
Re: The Star Wars Sequels Erased?
I think so too. But to be honest, when I first heard his voice in Rogue One is was noticable. Probably still could be done.

I thought his voice was off in R1, likely because he's older and perhaps the modulation wasn't quite right.

Oh, colour me surprised. Assholes are annoyed being called out on their bullshit? Well, Cock-a-doom: you're not branded as a sexist, because you are critical - you're branded as sexist, because you say sexist stuff.Makeshift Python wrote: ↑Wed Jul 22, 2020 11:21 pm The thing I hate about people like Doomcock is how fucking disingenuous they are. I mean, I'm honestly surprised, people actually listen to the Aldi-version of Iron Man or this Nerdrotic-fellow.
Indeed. If people think, that the NT is so bad, that it needs to be "erased", they should do the thing, that hurts creators the most: Ignore them. Don't spend money on it, don't talk about it - just vote with your feet.McAvoy wrote: ↑Thu Jul 23, 2020 1:49 am I still think they should just ignore it. I don't mean remake the Sequel Trilogy. I mean, the Blockbuster Buster did the same thing concerning the DCEU - he said: "I'll never talk about it, again."

And I concur: if you want to go original - go original. I'm sure, there are still not explored stories in the Star Wars Universe, right? It doesn't need to be a story of the Knights of the old republic - I mean, it could work - but you could tell - for example - a story, about the question: Is now everything hunkeydory, since the Empire has fallen and the Galactic Republic is in full effect? Or does the pendulum swing backwards again?
Or fill us in about the live on Curouscant during the time of the Empire - show us, how people lived and how some of them noticed, that the Empire was bad. Or show us Princess Leia during her time as a Senator in the Empire.
IDIC, am I right?

I also wanna clarify a point here, since I've gone on about this in the past.Makeshift Python wrote: ↑Wed Jul 22, 2020 11:21 pm The thing I hate about people like Doomcock is how fucking disingenuous they are. When do I hate SJW politics? In the meta-narrative. See, I feel the same for a right-wing meta-narrative. And that's a bit trickier since that stuff is subjective, but at the same time, I have no issues with, say, a rampant bigot in a work of fiction, so long as it isn't in the meta-narrative. By the same token, I have no issues with an SJW hippie type in the actual story. I think, however, the meta-narrative must always be neutral outside a few case exceptions. Because politics in the meta-narrative tends to be tone-deaf.
All things being equal, however, I find most menacers don't have legitimate complaints, or there's other stuff they would object to just as vociferously. I still don't give someone like Mr. Johnson a pass for his comments about Zeroh. Be better than that, or you're just opening yourself up to criticism.
